"Anointed"

I'm an “Island boy”. Grew up in a very small harborside town called Fresh Creek on the largest island in the Bahamas group of islands called Andros. Andros Island themes with outdoor excitement and the people are extremely loving and live neighbourly. I think this is the greatest influence on my person and musical substance. I spread love! Snorkelling, fishing, hunting, and dancing were the fun things to do growing up. Music set all the trends: dress style, hairstyle, attitudes, fads, and even political momentums! I have 4 amazing daughters and

a granddaughter. They are my world!

Oddly, this has only been a 5 years journey for me. Music was a late gift and discovery. I kept the amateur videos on my Facebook page Wayne John Wilson to chronicle the progress and process of my movement in the music industry.

It was an interest first: singing anywhere, everywhere to anyone, at any time. I sang at parks to kids and adults, in front of a public laundromat, outside the food store, at the beaches, and all the nightspots open mics, karaoke, live band participation.

My style is unique in a way because I believe I’m more of a fusion than a fixed style. I sing many love ballads like a Jah-Cure or Beres Hammond and bring the ragamuffin street culture like a SuperCat. I love the foundational, cultural reggae sounds of Dennis Brown, Burning Spear, and U-Roy. But I also really enjoy the borderline rude style from Beenie Man or Buju Banton because there is a “rude boy” in all of us. I bring a lot of excitement to my performances. My voice is commanding! My lyrics are like a magnet to the mind, they suck you in!
